Slightly outside the realm of my typical posts but I wanted to pass along an excellent book for those who love, know, work with, or simply want to better understand a non-verbal child. The book is "Out of My Mind" by Sharon Draper. It is a fictional story about a non-verbal child who has severe cerebral palsy. Though it is a fictional book there are many children in the same situation that are not fictional. They know so much more than they can communicate. It truly has changed some of the ways I interact with our little guy. It may be one of the best awareness tools that I've ever seen. Thank you Sharon Draper!!
I love you! I love your honesty your humor and most of all that I have the pleasure of knowing you and your sweet family. I love all that you have added to your blog. I love being able to keep up with Ryan on here. I pray for you guys often and wonder how things are going. I didn't realize until tonight that you update under Ryan's HBOT journey tab and it doesn't show up on my blog updates. I will def. be checking back to see how all is progressing. I love you, Wes, Em, Ryan. Glad we have family ties ;)
ReplyDeletePrayers and Love sent your way,

Thank you Jennifer!!! You are so sweet and faithful about checking in and leaving encouraging notes. It means more than you will ever know. Thank you so much for all of your prayers!! Everytime I see cutie Pie Eli's pictures I can't help but think of that adorable grin and laugh he had when we would bring Ryan close. Absolutely melted my heart!!! We love you!!
ReplyDeleteWow I can only imagine how beautiful this book is. My dear nephew was non-verbal for a couple of years and yet in the silence there was much he had to say. Thanks for sharing this!
